Infineon XDPS2201
The Infineon XDPSS2201 is a digital hybrid flyback controller with an integrated 600V high-voltage startup circuit and high- and low-side MOS drivers. The XDPSS2201 can be used with the company’s IGI60F1414A1L half-bridge GaN chip, providing customers with a highly integrated, efficient, high-performance, and low-temperature GaN fast-charging solution.
The XDPSS2201 utilizes peak current mode control for fast load response. It automatically switches to burst mode based on output current levels, supports primary-side overvoltage protection, and maintains standby power consumption below 75mW. Parameters are configurable via a single-pin UART interface. Housed in a PG-DSO-14 package, it minimizes external components.
Infineon XDPS2221
Infineon’s next-generation adaptive PFC + soft-switching HFB two-in-one controller, the XDPS2221, combines a PFC controller with the powerful HFB features of the XDPS2201 controller, helping power supply manufacturers create simpler, more efficient, and compact power supply designs.
The Infineon XDPS2221 supports PD 3.1’s wide input voltage range of 90-264Vac (47Hz/64Hz), expanding its application range. It offers a 5V-28V 5A output with an output power of 140W. Its conversion efficiency exceeds 95% at 230V and 93.5% at 115V, meeting energy efficiency requirements and facilitating the development of green PD power adapters.
The XDPS2221 controller chip in this hybrid flyback-based 140W USB-PD 3.1 demo board integrates the PFC and HFB controllers. The primary-side power devices utilize three IGLD60R190D1 (190M ohm/8x8GaN) CoolGaN devices: one for the PFC GaN switch and two for the HFB GaN switches. The secondary-side utilizes the ICQ800NLS (100V/3.3mR) SR GaN switch and the CYPD3175 USB-PD power supply IC. This results in a PCB design footprint of just 109.5×28.5x24mm³, achieving a power density of 22.67W/in³ or 38W/cc. This design significantly improves performance while saving board space, making it suitable for a variety of low-power PD adapter applications.

The JW1556 is an asymmetric half-bridge flyback controller in a QFN 4×4-20 package suitable for offline flyback converter applications. JW1556C.

The JW1556C is an asymmetric half-bridge flyback controller launched by JW. Designed for offline flyback converter applications, it operates in boundary mode under heavy loads and switches to DCM + quasi-resonant mode under light loads. It also supports Burst Mode control to optimize energy efficiency. Integrated soft-start and X-capacitor discharge functions reduce standby power consumption. The built-in boost converter covers a wide input range of 0-38V, and a single resistor allows for configurable switching frequency up to 1.5MHz. It features line compensation and comprehensive protection against VCC overvoltage, short-circuit, and overtemperature. Richtek RT7795

The RT7795 is a controller IC designed for asymmetric half-bridge (AHB) converters. It features a built-in 625V high-voltage startup device, an output power rating of up to 300W, and supports output voltages from 5V to 48V. It features a built-in X-capacitor discharge and utilizes continuous resonant operation to effectively reduce power losses in the AHB and secondary-side synchronous rectifiers.
In addition, the RT7795 utilizes a proprietary dithering method to effectively address potential audible noise, dispersing the noise’s energy and frequency. The RT7795 incorporates multiple protection mechanisms and is housed in a WQFN-24L package, making it suitable for high-power GaN fast-charging power supply designs.
